This award of £10,000 enables us to provide the Let’s Get Cooking Programme (LGCP) in a school for one year, allowing us to reach a whole new cohort of children who we can empower to look after their own health, both now and in the future. This helps to cover costs such as teaching staff, food, training and first aid, insurance, equipment, packaging, laundry, staff, uniforms / PPE and admin. Not only are these children provided with food education and invaluable life skills, but LGCP also enhances their learning in other subjects such as maths, English and science. Enabling access to more children across Jersey helps Caring Cooks to realise our goal of touching the life of every child on this Island.
The programme was launched in 2017 and is growing from strength to strength.
Unfortunately, we were unable to run our Let’s Get Cooking Programme in 2020/21 due to Covid, however we are now teaching 920 children across 5 primary schools.
This funding is life changing, and we can’t thank you enough for supporting us. I look forward to sending you the impact report in September to show the difference this funding has made to these children’s lives.
