Sanctuary Trust and FN&HC amongst beneficiaries of latest AJC grants

Following the latest meeting of its Grants Committee in September, a total of £86,268 was awarded by the AJC as part of its Q3 2024 tranche of grants.

The latest quarterly distribution includes grants totaling £60,000 from profits from the Channel Islands Lottery as follows:

  • £30,000 to Family Nursing and Home Care, to support staff costs of a Falls and Frailty Practitioner
  • £30,000 to Sanctuary Trust, to support staff costs of a support worker

In addition, a further £26,268 was distributed to charities from private donations.

Commenting on the latest round of grants, Jill Ryan, Chair of the AJC Grants Committee, said:

“The fundraising environment remains challenging in Jersey, with charities being asked to do more and more with extremely tight resources. I’m therefore pleased that the AJC is able to make a number of donations again this quarter, including to support FN&HC and the Sanctuary Trust so that they can continue to deliver critical services in the local community. As we near the end of the year and look ahead to 2025, it’s a good time for people to reflect on how they could support charities through one-off donations or regular giving, and enable them to continue to do extremely valuable work in the island.”

Sarah Tumelty, General Manager, Sanctuary Trust, said:

"We are extremely grateful for the continued support from the AJC. This year, their funding will cover the salary of one of our essential support workers. Without it, we would be unable to carry out the crucial work we provide to the community. Our support workers, based at Sanctuary House, also extend their efforts into the community, offering assistance to individuals who have transitioned into independent accommodation. This aspect of our work is critical, as it represents our most effective strategy for preventing recurrent homelessness.”

The AJC’s Grants Committee, which is made up of Officers of the Association and independent panel members, will next meet on 3 December 2024 with an application deadline of 12 November. Grants are open to all Jersey-registered charities, and further information is available here.
