Caring Cooks of Jersey is a locally based charity dedicated to empowering children and young people in Jersey to grow, cook, and eat healthy food, fostering positive habits in childhood and beyond. We focus on supporting families with school-aged children, as we believe that early exposure to good nutrition is vital for lifelong health and well-being. Our services are provided free of charge and are funded entirely through charitable donations.

Core Programmes:

Weekly Meal Service
Established 10 years ago as our founding programme, the Weekly Meal Service provides nutritious meals to vulnerable families.
Families receive support for up to 12 weeks, giving them respite from cooking and ensuring they can eat well and eat together.

Let’s Get Cooking Programme
A cross-curricular, progressive, skills-based initiative delivered in primary schools.
Aims to equip children with an understanding of basic nutrition, essential life skills, and the ability to make positive, informed food choices as they transition to secondary school.

Parent Workshops
These workshops teach parents and carers how to prepare healthy meals and lunchboxes on a budget, promoting long-term healthy eating habits within families.

Food and Nutrition Education
Through classroom-based education and practical activities, we inspire children to understand the importance of nutrition, empowering them to build healthy habits early in life.

Community Campaigns:

Holiday Hunger
Provides nutritious meals to children during school holidays, ensuring those who rely on school meals during term time do not go hungry when school is out.

Food or Fuel
Supports families facing the difficult choice between heating their homes and feeding their families by providing resources to ensure both essential needs are met.

Through these programmes and campaigns, we strive to make healthy food accessible, promote nutritional education, and provide critical support to families during challenging times.
